A Day with the Laguna Pit Bulls

It is said that sunday is a day of rest, but for my dog-loving family, this Palm Sunday was a day of giving back to those in need.

March 24, 2013:  We went to the CARA Welfare Philippines Center to volunteer for the Laguna Pit Bulls (Get to know them more here). I've waited a lot of years to have this kind of "doggie volunteering" opportunity and when my mom told me that we would finally be able to do it, I was very excited, ☺ecstatic might be the best word for my emotion that day.

Quick background story:
"A few months ago an estimated 230 pit bulls were rescued from a dog-fighting syndicate operating in Laguna. This syndicate was operated by several Korean nationals who had already been previously arrested for the same offense in Cavite.

After their release in 2011, these Koreans quickly posted bail and proceeded to arrange for the relocation and importation of more dogs for their illegal and barbaric online betting business in Laguna. This is where they were busted again, this time with 230 dogs."

This was the dogs' former environment:
After the rescue by CARA Welfare Philippines, they brought these 100+ dogs to their new home where they'll be waiting for their new families to come and adopt them.
The site is very breezy; good for the dogs and the humans☺
Registration area
The organization's staff and volunteers
Some of their products for the fund drive
A very good place for the dogs to chill...
and to live in while waiting for their forever homes.
My personal favorite, Jade
And here are some of the other dogs

We got the chance to walk with Jade and we want to adopt her☺
This is me with my darling, Jade

This experience was really worth the wait. I can't wait to go back there.
Jade, I hope you get to set paw in our home really soon!☺

  1. glad to see young people like you to be involved in giving back to the community and reaching out to these beautiful and sadly misunderstood creatures. God bless you and your family and hope to see pictures of Jade coming home with you guys.

    1. It's really nice to see that these dogs are finally taken into great care. Sadly, we won't be able to adopt Jade soon because we've adopted another puppy from a different place but we still visit the shelter whenever we have time :)
Thank you and God bless to you and your family as well!
